Writing & Editing
The Notis editor is a full-featured writing environment designed for clinical and educational content. It combines rich text formatting with AI-powered writing tools that help draft, refine, and organize notes without leaving the workspace.
Editor Interface
The editor occupies the center panel of the Notis workspace. It supports standard formatting — headings, bold, italic, lists, blockquotes, code blocks — through multiple input methods.
Bubble Toolbar
Select any text to reveal the bubble toolbar above the selection. It provides quick access to:
- Text formatting — Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough
- Headings — H1 through H4
- Lists — Bullet, numbered, and task lists
- Block types — Blockquote, code block
- Text alignment — Left, center, right
- AI transforms — Improve selected text with AI (see below)
Slash Commands
Type / anywhere in the editor to open the command menu. Available commands include:
- AI Continue — Generate a continuation of the current text
- Heading levels — Insert H1–H4 headings
- Lists — Bullet list, numbered list, task list
- Blockquote — Insert a quote block
- Code block — Insert a code block
- Horizontal rule — Insert a visual divider
Drag Handle
Hover over any block (paragraph, heading, list) to reveal a drag handle on the left side. Use it to:
- Reorder blocks by dragging
- Duplicate a block
- Delete a block
- Turn into a different block type
- Copy block content
Inline AI Completions
As you write, Notis can suggest continuations of your text in real-time.
Accepting Suggestions
- Press Tab to accept the suggested text
- Press Escape to dismiss it
- Continue typing to ignore and replace the suggestion
AI Text Transforms
Select text and use the AI options in the bubble toolbar to transform the selection:
- Fix spelling & grammar — Correct errors while preserving meaning
- Extend text — Expand the selection with additional detail
- Reduce text — Shorten while keeping key points
- Simplify text — Rewrite in plainer language
- Continue sentence — Complete an unfinished thought
- Summarize — Create a concise summary of the selection
Transforms stream the result directly into the editor, replacing the selected text. These operations are also free of credit cost.

Managing Notes
Creating Notes
Click the + New button in the notes list panel to create a new blank note. Notes are saved automatically as you type.
Auto-Save
Changes save automatically after a brief pause in typing. A save indicator appears when content is being saved. There's no need to manually save — just keep writing.
Deleting Notes
Open the ... menu and select Delete to remove a note. This action also cleans up any associated AI chat history, research results, and fact-check data.
Exporting Notes
Finished notes can be exported as markdown:
Open the Actions Menu
Click the ... menu in the editor toolbar.
Choose Export Option
Under Export Markdown, select either:
- Download — Save as a
.mdfile - Copy — Copy markdown to clipboard for pasting elsewhere
Opening AI Tools
Three icons in the editor toolbar provide quick access to the AI panel tabs:
- Search icon — Opens the Research tab
- Message icon — Opens the Chat tab
- Shield icon — Opens the Fact Check tab
Clicking any of these opens the AI tools panel on the right (or as a slide-over on mobile) with the corresponding tab selected.
